Building Canberra’s Light Rail for a connected and growing city.

Canberra Metro is proud to have successfully designed, built, financed, operated and maintained Stage 1 of Canberra’s light rail network on behalf of the ACT Government.

Since commencement of operations, Stage 1 has delivered a safe, reliable and high‑performing service, achieving strong customer satisfaction and helping reshape how Canberra moves.

Building on this success, Canberra Metro is now delivering Stage 2A, extending the light rail network and strengthening connections across the city. As the delivery partner for this city‑shaping infrastructure, we remain committed to setting benchmarks for safety, reliability, accessibility and customer experience through to 2038.

By placing customers and community at the heart of our operations, we support greater public transport adoption, enhance connectivity, and contribute to sustainable economic development and urban renewal.

Backed by a consortium of leading national and international partners, Canberra Metro is helping shape the next phase of light rail in the nation’s capital and supporting Canberra’s growth for decades to come.

Our Purpose

Moving People. Enriching Lives. Enabling Growth

Canberra Metro exists to create a light rail service that connects people and supports a thriving, sustainable city.

Moving People

Canberra Metro is responsible for overseeing a safe, reliable and customer-focused light rail network that puts passengers and community first. Our role is to set the standards for service excellence and ensure the network delivers for the people of Canberra, encouraging more residents to choose public transport. Enriching Lives

We strengthen connections across Canberra, making it easier for people to move around the city and access work, education and community spaces, helping improve everyday life.

Enabling Growth

We contribute to long-term economic and social growth by supporting local jobs and businesses, building skills and capability, and playing a key role in Canberra’s ongoing urban development.
